Primary Job DutiesThis position is responsible for the management of the Maintenance Department's Safety Management System (SMS), and Regulatory Compliance, interfacing with other Department Safety/Operational leaders within SkyWest to include, but not limited to:
Flight Operations, Inflight, Airport Operations, OCC and IT.
Responsible for the management of the Maintenance Department's SMS, including ongoing development, implementation, continuity, and promotion.
Facilitates hazard identification, safety risk analysis, and all department safety risk assessment/management (SRA/SRM) activity.
Ensures risk mitigation and safety risk controls implemented comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Integrates department safety activities and priorities with the Maintenance Department and actively interfaces with leaders in other operating departments.
Oversees and monitors SMS processes, including the implementation, maintenance, and integration of the SMS within the Maintenance Department.
Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of SMS processes within the department, including but not limited to:
Hazard identification and safety risk analysis.
Assuring the effectiveness of safety risk controls.
Promoting safety, as required in 14 CFR Part 5 Subpart E Safety Promotion.
Regularly reporting to and advising the Senior Vice President Maintenance, Maintenance Department directors and applicable managers on the performance of the Maintenance Department's SMS and on any need for improvement(s).
Facilitates Maintenance Department's SMS meetings including, but not limited to:
Monthly Data Analysis Group (DAG) Quarterly Safety Round Table (SRT) Reviews and coordinates changes to Maintenance safety manuals (specifically GMM 1-7) ensuring SMS standards and interfaces are maintained.
Ensures safety promotion and continuous improvement throughout the Maintenance Department.
Accurately evaluates related data and reporting for proper escalation to the Senior Vice President Maintenance and other department leaders.
Minimum Requirements Knowledge of:
SkyWest and Maintenance Department policies and procedures.
SkyWest Maintenance General Maintenance Manual (GMM) Federal regulations, including FAA and IOSA SkyWest's SMS, including associated policies and procedures Data collection and analysis Experience using EtQ, SkyTrack, RizePoint, WBAT, SharePoint and SkyWest's voluntary employee reporting systems (i.
e.
, ASAP, IOR, and SCR).
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Professional software.
Motivated self-starter; ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
