Job Description:
The primary function of this role is to provide supervision for our residents and to ensure their safety while building a rapport with them.
This includes providing assistance to each resident in reaching their daily goals; conducting skill-building groups; providing individual support; setting limits for behavior; creating documentation of the resident's progress; identifying and communicating individual needs of the residents to the clinical team.
The Residential Support Specialist is responsible for providing assistance in daily living tasks, personal care and support, and ensuring the personal safety and welfare of physically disabled, medically and behaviorally challenged individuals in a residential setting while serving as an effective role model.
Specific Duties and
Responsibilities:
Mentors and assist residents with meeting treatment goals Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home etc) Encouraging clients to develop links with the community, attend off-site activities and expand their personal social network.
Responsible for being aware of where all assigned residents are and what they are doing at all times.
When assigned to a one-to-one with a client, the requirement is to have eyes on the client at all times during the assigned period.
If observing a client leaving the premises, the expectation is to follow them until further assistance can be provided.
Enforces house rules pursuant to the policy Facilitate residential daily schedule including participating in, and providing support to residents, to include but not limited to, activities such as chores, deep clean of designated space, meal service, laundry service, groups, activities, and events Provide transportation to residents for community outings and meetings in company vehicle in a safe and legal manner.
Reports signs of increased aggression, suicidal behavior danger of elopement, etc.
and takes necessary safety precautions Practice compliance with all policies, record keeping requirements, checklist assignments, assigned documentation, and any other assigned duties.
Essential Job Functions:
Completes assessment of functional living skills, as needed, and develops/implements individualized treatment/service goals and objectives.
Monitors performance of independent living skills and provided community support.
Collaborates with community systems (school, landlord, family, transportation provider, employer).
Provides individualized crisis assistance, consistent with individual's treatment/service plan.
Communicates information relevant to care, treatment, and services, with internal team members and, as authorized, with outside providers, to ensure appropriate level and quality of care.
Documents services and care provided by timely completing various charting and notes.
Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, consistent with Crimson Counseling procedures and state and federal law.
Attends and participates in all required staff and service planning meetings and trainings.
Independent living skills may include:
Social skills - perceptual skills, understanding body language, eye contact, conversational initiations, reciprocation, empathy, leisure / recreational outings in community Executive functioning - flexibility, money management, educational and vocational goal-setting, personal hygiene, care and safety, drivers certification, attending, focusing, prioritizing, setting appointments, following through with tasks.
Communication skills - asking for a break, asking for help, receptive language skills, expressive language skills, assertiveness skills and stress management, conflict resolution.
Accessing community resources - meetings, school, job placement, public transportation.
Education:
Required:
High school diploma / 6-12 months experience working with individuals with either autism, oppositional defiance or conduct disorder.
Preferred:
Associates Degree, training and knowledge of behavior analysis, Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, social work, or human services, or any other field relevant to care or services to individuals with behavioral and/or mental health challenges Job Types:
